Aspects goes wild at Kings Park

PhotoRichard was the Artist-In-Residence at gallery-shop Aspects of Kings Park, Perth, in November 2007 with his Wild Earth Images Exhibition.

From the rivers, waterfalls, outback and marine life in the north to the seascapes, sunsets, and forests in the south, the exhibition depicted scenes from his travels throughout Western Australia in up to 3 metre canvases and large format framed prints.

Richard is no stranger to Kings Park as he is the grandson of John and Ivey Watson, who played a major contribution to the running of Kings Park years ago.

John was the Superintendent Secretary of Kings Park from 1938-1962 (24 years) and the Children’s Park is named after Ivey Watson. John and Ivey’s daughter, Margaret Smyth (Richard’s mother), has been a friend and volunteer of Kings Park for over 12 years and a guide for nine years.

"We were delighted when Richard agreed to be involved in our Artists in Residence Program", said Megan Johnstone, Artist in Residence Programme Co-ordinator from Aspects, "especially as he has such a strong historical background with Kings Park."

"His pictures are quite breathtaking and really conjure up the essence of Western Australia."
